Probably the only weirdo Scouse jazz crooner you’ll ever need.” – i-D

“Confirmation that he is a master of the sultry slow jam.” – Line of Best Fit

“Jazz-leaning twilight ruminations that puncture the mythology of R&B, the Liverpool songwriter’s work has a sensual, almost carnal property.” – Clash

Liverpool’s very own self-proclaimed ‘sexistentialist’ Brad Stank today unleashes his first single of 2023 ‘Long Distance’ on Sunday Best Recordings.

‘Long Distance’ details a new long distance love affair and all of the titillation yet simultaneous nerves that come with it. Brad’s hopes for the track is that people who have found themselves longing for their far away amour can relate and take solace in it. “They’re maybe more prevalent now with the internet etc,” comments Brad on long distance relationships. “It is essentially a love song though, and the chorus line “it’s so unfair that you’re so far away” I’m sure is something anybody who’s ever been in love can relate to.”

Brad took some inspiration for ‘Long Distance’ from The Smashing Pumpkins track ‘Mayonaise’, specifically in the section featuring a harmonic guitar break. Brad had a “nostalgia trip” listening to the band before writing this song and found it coming together quickly within a couple of hours the night before the recording session.

Having released his acclaimed debut album Eternal Slowdown in 2018, Brad Stank has proved himself to be a boundary-pushing artist, captivating with his genre-defying sound and distinctive style. Blending lounge lizard jazz, funk, psychedelic rock, and smoky blues, Brad Stank has become a sensual woozy-pop master for the ages.
