Description & tracklisting

‘Sugar Coated Lies’ is the brilliant new single from Christopher D Ashley on Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings label.  The second single to be taken from his critically acclaimed debut album Cruel Romantics, Sugar Coated Lies is a truly sublime synth pop gem.  Coming out on 12″ and download, the single also features remixes by Justin Robertson, Fear of Theydon and The Third Man.

Adding a new dimension to his two – men – with – laptops – and – knob – twiddling live show of old, Christopher is currently touring with an exciting new full live band set up where he is joined by Keith ‘Radioactive Man’ Tenniswood on guitar, along with Lisa Kristiina on bass and Luke Ollivere on laptop beats and blips.

Keith Tenniswood, also one half of Two Lone Swordsmen with Andrew Weatherall, is one of Christopher’s favourite producers. The pair met when Keith was handed a demo of Christopher’s music and was so impressed that he got in touch to say that he was keen to work with him.  Keith has since introduced Christopher to many of his friends from the electronic music scene and frequently provides him with a fresh dose of electro records they both hold a passion for.

The single comes backed with some top notch remixes. Justin Robertson needs no introduction – a legend. Fear of Theydon is one Julian Peck – former Sunday Best tea-boy turned producer and remixer du-jour. And The Third Man is one Toby Leeming – another hot young producer to keep your eyes on.

The video for Sugar Coated Lies has been produced by Beth Winslet who features in the video alongside Henry Steedman (also the photographer behind the imagery used on the album and singles).
