Description & tracklisting

Following the November release of Kitty Liv’s debut single ‘Sweet Dreams’, which was championed by Craig Charles and Cerys Mathews (BBC Radio 6 Music) and Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2), today sees the release of  her follow up, ‘The Sun and The Rain’.

Kitty Liv, better known as one third of the successful and acclaimed family band, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, has been developing her ideas over several years, working on songs which mark a completely different direction for her. As a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Kitty is resonating with a more expansive set of her influences, from Erykah Badu and D’Angelo to Al Green and blues legend Howlin’ Wolf, to produce a body of personal songs that evoke the primal depths of Soul, Gospel blues & Rock and Roll.

For her second single release, ‘The Sun and The Rain’, Kitty showcases a more uptempo song, with an urgent and infectious groove. Its celebratory sound belies its inspiration about an unhappy relationship and the desperation to be loved.

The song seamlessly blends nostalgia of the past with a modern, fresh approach and is another great example of what’s to come from this incredibly talented songwriter and exceptional performer as she embarks on her solo career.

Co-produced with her brother and analogue guru Lewis Durham, ‘The Sun and The Rain’ was recorded live on sparkling analogue equipment at KDL’s analogue studio at Kentish Town, North London.
